The Making of "Octopus"

1. Draw a filled circle. Add a "petal" made with Bezier lines. Flood-fill with a sunburst gradient.

2. Select the white area, then invert. Copy as new layer seven times, rotating each 45 degrees from the prior one and aligning the circle with the other ones. Flatten. Select the white area, then invert. Copy as new layer and rotate 10 degrees.
   
   

3. Hide top layer and apply BladePro to the bottom layer.

4. Show top layer and apply Paint Engine to the top layer.
   
   

5. Flatten. Finish by selecting the white area with a bit of feathering and applying BladePro.
