This page contains some illustrations of one of my favorite techniques. The basic technique is to duplicate the background layer. Apply "Colors|Negative" to the top layer and switch the blend mode to dodge. You'll see a white or almost white image. Then just apply your choice(s) of effect, filter or deformation to the top layer. For some choices, you may want to reduce the top layer's opacity just a little. |
